On Wednesday April 25th, LG Electronics organised a great event called “Celebrating the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program”. The objective was to get together some of the top journalists in the health and lifestyle sector with some the LG Electronics brand marketing team members as well as Allergy Standards (ASL) and Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) executive team. David VanderWaal, Senior Vice president Marketing at LG, as well as Dr. John McKeon, ASL CEO and Kenneth Mendez, AAFA CEO, were present during the event.
LG, the industry leader in innovative appliances
LG is a long term client of the Certification Program. As they value innovation that make life better and more enjoyable for their customers, it was coherent for them to submit some of their highest quality products to the Certification Program. LG is the first and only brand to have certified washing machines and the LG Styler is also the first and only steam clothing care system to be certified asthma & allergy friendly®. Thanks to their certified products, LG can help consumers to create a healthier indoor home environment and especially during the allergy season.
“Celebrating the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program”
With the rising concern around asthma and allergies and a spring pollen season that keeps getting longer and stronger*, the latest study show that indoor air quality can be 2 to 5 times worse than the outside air quality. The Certification Program can help millions of people to overcome these issues by creating a healthier indoor environment by using CERTIFIED products and services. Thanks to the Certification Program, manufacturers such as LG can develop healthier products for their customers. This way, manufacturers earn the trust of their customers who can make healthier choices when buying CERTIFIED products for their home that have been scientifically proven to help reducing their exposure to harmful chemicals, irritants and allergens.
The science behind the Certification Program
Products that have received the Certification have been through a rigorous scientific testing process to assess their action as a source of allergenic and irritant materials in the indoor environment. The physical testing takes place at ASL accredited testing laboratories and products are tested against specific testing standards developed by ASL.
As explained by ASL CEO, Dr. John McKeon, “pollen, dust mites and mould are common triggers that set off coughing, wheezing and other symptoms”.
