Knauf North America, a global leader in fiberglass insulation manufacturing, has strengthened its market position and built customer trust through its partnership with Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) and the Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification Program

Recognizing growing demand for transparency and health-focused solutions, especially in the wake of COVID-19, Knauf North America submitted its entire portfolio of formaldehyde-free insulation products to ASL’s rigorous scientific testing. This included assessing fibers, airborne particulates and dust levels during and following installation, VOC emissions 24 hours and 14 days post-installation, and absence of prohibited chemicals. The results confirmed that Knauf products met the Program’s strict criteria, leading to certification across its HVAC, pipe and tank , and residential lines.
Linda McGovern, VP of Marketing & Customer Experience at Knauf North America, explains:
“Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification offers customers confidence, ensuring they choose products that create a comfortable and safer indoor environment.”
This partnership has driven measurable impact, from increased conversions to securing health-focused institutional projects, and even earning Knauf Performance+ the NAHB Global Innovation Award.
Dr. John McKeon, CEO of ASL, notes:
“The Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification gives consumers and professionals confidence that the insulation they choose contributes to a healthier indoor environment. Knauf has set a new standard, empowering stakeholders to create healthier indoor spaces with confidence.”
By backing its product line with a trusted third-party certification, Knauf has not only met but helped shape industry expectations for healthier building materials.
