World Standards Day 2025 – Shared Vision for a Better World

Every year on October 14, World Standards Day recognizes the essential role that international standards play in building a safer, more sustainable, and better-connected world. The 2025 theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World – Standards for the SDGs,” highlights how standardization supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including those focused on health, innovation, and sustainability.

At Allergy Standards Ltd (ASL), we share this mission. Founded by Dr. John McKeon, ASL develops scientific standards that help people breathe healthier indoor air. Our globally recognized Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification Program, operated with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), verifies that products meet rigorous, science-based standards designed to improve indoor air quality (IAQ).

Standards for Healthier Living

World Standards Day, led by ISO, IEC, and ITU, celebrates the collaboration of experts worldwide who establish the technical frameworks that underpin innovation and safety. At ASL, we apply these same principles to the indoor environment. Our testing protocols are aligned with global benchmarks such as ISO/IEC 17025, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and credibility.

Through this work, we contribute directly to key Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being – reducing exposure to allergens and harmful chemicals.

  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – helping manufacturers meet international quality and sustainability standards.

  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – guiding consumers toward verified healthier choices.

A Shared Vision for a Better World

At ASL, we believe standards are not only technical tools but also drivers of positive change. They connect science, innovation, and consumer trust. By bringing together medical, environmental, and product science, we help companies embed health and sustainability into product design, from paints and bedding to insulation and flooring.

As we mark World Standards Day 2025, we join the global community in celebrating the experts who make progress possible. Through the power of science and standardization, Allergy Standards Ltd continues to set benchmarks for healthier indoor environments and a more sustainable world.
