Handheld dusting products and wipes that are Certified Asthma & Allergy Friendly® are tested to the ASP:09-03/101 Certification Standard.
The certification process uses an algorithm of proprietary and recognized scientific techniques to assess cleaning products for their impact on allergen, the immediate environment (where particles are concerned), as well as on the end-user. Product samples that pass Certification testing are granted a Certificate stating that the particular handheld dusting product or wipe meets the requirements for the Asthma & Allergy Friendly® ASP:09-03/101 Certification Standard.
Allergy Standards Limited subjects handheld dusting products and wipes to allergen, particle and chemical testing to ensure that the cleaning product reduces total allergen burden of a hard surface while not contributing to an increase of airborne particulate matter. Further to this, the chemical profile of the cleaning product is assessed.
The Asthma & Allergy Friendly® certification mark is awarded to those cleaning products that have been scientifically demonstrated to contribute to the goal of allergen reduction.
The handheld dusting product and wipes standard includes:
- Evaluating the products capability to remove allergen and particulate matter from hard surfaces while minimizing airborne allergens.
- Assessment of allergen on the product following cleaning, demonstrating that allergens are removed from the surface and not just redistributed.
- Evaluating the presence of toxic constituents and the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC) to ensure low toxicity of the product.
All Certified Asthma & Allergy Friendly® handheld dusting products and wipes are associated with a unique Certification code.
