Watch our CEO on ConsultantLive: Dr. John McKeon discusses the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program
In this interview on ConsultantLive, Dr. John McKeon explains the importance of a whole-house approach to reducing asthma and allergy triggers and the aim of the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program which involves mitigating allergen exposure in a variety of household products; from furnace filters, vacuum cleaners and paint to electrical appliances and insulation. Each product must fulfill the performance and suitability criteria established by the program in order to achieve certification.
“We looked at products all over the home, because we know that single interventions on their own, such as just using allergen bedding, doesn’t work, you need to have a whole of house approach,” McKeon said. “Our philosophy very much is that some chronic health conditions don’t necessarily need more emergency rooms and more medication, they probably need more education and patient empowerment.”
Air Cleaners, vacuum cleaners, HVAC/furnace filters and cleaning products are just a few of the wide range of household products and building materials that are CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly®.
Other items include insulation, paints, bedding, flooring, air filters, washing machines and humidifiers. All of these undergo stringent tests earning them the asthma & allergy friendly® certification.
