US Trade Mission Retrospective – The Highlights

The team have returned from the US after a hugely successful trade mission to Las Vegas, Atlanta and New York where they met with current clients and many prospective ones, took part in workshops and presented at webinars. It was a busy trip!

It started at the Las Vegas Market. Ahead of speaking about healthy buildings and how we occupy these buildings at the NAHB International Builders’ Show, Dr John McKeon  met up with clients Pegasus Home Fashions. The market was packed with potential textile clients who were interested to know that our asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program is now featured on Wayfair as one of their designated verifications and third party certifications.

US Trade Mission RetrospectiveAnd we had the opportunity to meet with Ali Richert from Wayfair at NAHB International Builders’ Show. It was great to meet in person to build towards our webinar on Feb 16th with Wayfair suppliers and team.
Healthy Indoor Air was a strong theme at this year’s show and it is inspiring to be working with retailers who value third party certifications in this area.

The next stop was The International Surface Event (TISE) : SURFACES | StonExpo | Tile Expo where our clients Tarkett  showcased their newest additions to their CERTIFIED portfolio. It was great to meet up with Bradley Gean, Marketing Specialist, from the Tarkett Home team to discuss how the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program is resonating with their customers. Thanks to Roxane Spears, Beth Doehner, Rachel Berking, Jason Surratt and the whole Tarkett team for their hospitality and continued commitment to improving indoor air quality through science and leadership.

On day 3 it was wonderful to meet with Brandt Varner, Sue Bailey  and  JL Lavina at the LG Electronics Signature Kitchen booth at KBIS. LG have taken a portfolio approach to creating healthier indoor environments and have CERTIFIED products in laundry, air purification, vacuum and robotic vacuum categories. We look forward to continuing to work with LG on our shared vision of creating a sustainable “OneHealth” world where healthy people live on a healthy planet

Next up was the National Hardware Show   where Rich white, Dan Reed and Troy Palmer extended their hospitality at their booth. True Value EasyCare Ultra Premium is CERTIFIED by the asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program making it a great choice for those looking for a product that supports healthier indoor air. True Value understand the power of the science behind our certification and it’s great to hear how they educate their team and their customers on how to create healthier indoor environments

Las Vegas RetrospectiveOn our final day of the Las Vegas leg of our US Trade mission it was a pleasure to meet with Kimberly Flores and connect again with David Underwood. CERTIFIED Eco Spec paint from Benjamin Moore is their “greenest” interior premium paint and is the perfect choice when an environmentally responsible paint is required, for healthy people living on a healthy planet. We look forward to working with the team at Benjamin Moore over the coming year.

While at the AHR Expo show in Atlanta we were grateful for the opportunity to speak with Douglas Huntley, Global R&D Director at 3M, about what the asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program means to them.

The 3M brand promise of “Science Applied to Life” and belief in third party certification helps eliminate the ‘confusion of claims’ that exists around uncertified products that claim to support a healthier indoor environment. The consumer is demanding CERTIFIED products like 3M Filtrete to fulfil their need for healthy buildings and homes. Thanks to all the team that were at the 3M booth – Alana Mitchell, Douglas Huntley, Maureen Rariden, Kelly Ip and Estefania Fernandez 🇨🇴 –  for their time and generosity.

We had a highly engaging day with our friends at Knauf Insulation North America where we gained a comprehensive understanding of their strategy and the ways in which Allergy Standards Limited can support them with our Academy and the asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program. The opportunity to conduct this workshop in person with our clients is truly priceless, and the commitment of time from both parties reflects our mutual objective of creating healthier indoor environments for all. Thanks to Nathan Walker, Linda McGovern, Craig Laker, Patti Pellock, Travis Church, William Parlapiano, Erin Weartz, Crystal Harless, Tim Cofran and Scott Stillabower and the extended team at Knauf for your hospitality and time.

On the final day of our US trade mission we had the most amazing Design Thinking workshop day with our friends Tarkett.

Las Vegas RetrospectiveWe would like to thank our hosts Roxane Spears, Beth Doehner and Rachel Berman Berkin for bringing together their team and customers for a unique experiential day. This was all made possible by the fantastic co-presenters on the day, so a big thank you to Melanie Koch, WELL Faculty from International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), Maria Villafranca from Design Museum Everywhere and our own Dr John McKeon. Also a big thank you to Jenna Riemenschneider from our partners the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America for your valued input on the day.
