From Coast to Coast: Advocating for Healthier Built Environments with the Certification Program

The Intersection of Science and Advocacy in Indoor Health

This week marks a busy period for our asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program, bridging both coasts of the United States with impactful events focused on healthier indoor environments. Developed through a unique collaboration between Allergy Standards Ltd and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), our Certification Program merges patient advocacy with rigorous scientific standards, providing consumers with CERTIFIED household products and building materials that support healthier indoor air.

Science and Advocacy on West Coast

science and advocacyOn the west coast, our colleague Kenneth Mendez took the stage at the International WELL Building Institute’s WELL Conference. As President and CEO of AAFA, Kenneth’s session highlighted how our indoor lifestyles shape our internal health, from the air we breathe to the environments we create. Joined by prominent speakers Dr. Richard Carmona,  Michelle Williams and Esther Sternberg, the discussion was truly enlightening, offering insights into the pivotal role of indoor air quality in shaping our well-being.

Resilient and textile flooring, paint, and insulation products that are CERTIFIED by the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program are compliant with WELL Feature X06 Part 1b4.

Science and Advocacy on East Coast

Meanwhile, on the East coast, our Senior Business Development Manager, Richard Bromhead, is participating in The Living Future Conference, an annual gathering that draws a diverse and impactful community of thought leaders all actively engaged in the built environment sector. Amidst discussions on green building materials, energy efficiency, and indoor environmental quality, Richard is engaging with leaders and innovators to advance the healthier buildings movement.

These events demonstrate our commitment to promoting sustainability and health in the spaces where we live and work and the unique nature of our Certification Program. By showcasing CERTIFIED products, but also advocating and educating people on cutting-edge research and scientific advances, we aim to drive positive change towards a future where indoor environments prioritize both human health and environmental well-being.

Collaboration among stakeholders is essential to ensure a future where the built environment supports our health, and through science and advocacy we can empower consumers, designers and those in the construction industry to make informed choices that contribute to this healthier environment.
