Watch our CEO Dr John McKeon and President & CEO of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Kenneth Mendez, on Healthy Indoors Live with Bob Krell for a very interesting dive into the significant role a healthy indoor environment plays in our overall health & well-being.
The discussion ranges widely from how to improve indoor air quality for those impacted by asthma & allergies to why better indoor air benefits all and, how COVID-19 has focused a spotlight on the issue of a healthy indoors- an issue that should have come to our attention long ago. The air we breath is the single most important external factor governing our health today. It’s obvious that no one can survive without clean air, yet we take it for granted. We value the importance of what’s in our water, but the air we breathe indoors is not regulated to the same degree as the water we drink or, indeed, the food we eat.
There are currently no guidelines, globally or in the U.S., that regulate or provide standards to modify bacteria or viruses in indoor air. In the developed world we expect clean water from our taps so why shouldn’t we have the same expectations for our indoor air. Allergy Standards, in partnership with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, run the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program to scientifically test and identify consumer products that are more suitable for people with asthma and allergies and contribute to a better indoor environment that is of benefit to all.
