EEBA High Performance Home Summit
Dr. John McKeon, CEO of Allergy Standards, was delighted to present the plenary session of the EEBA 2021 High Performance Home Summit . The session was entitled ‘Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise: How the pursuit of healthy buildings, that are good for people, planet, and profits, is the way forward for purpose-driven professionals’ and was co-presented by Gord Cooke, Partner at Construction Instruction.
The session explored how building professionals can unlock key skills to provide a better built environment in an era where emphasis on engineering and energy efficiency is being replaced by a more people-centered design that is of benefit to all.
Thanks to Aaron Smith, CEO of EEBA, and to EEBA for the opportunity for ASL to take to the virtual stage and share the important work we are doing on the design, construction and management of the built environment to optimize healthier indoor air.
At a time more critical than ever, the impact of poor IAQ on our health demands examination, with a particular focus on how indoor pollution can exacerbate respiratory disorders. It is critical that we address the subject of healthier materials & measures for building projects, and how these can ultimately support the integration of healthy IAQ strategies into the design of a building.
Many of these key topics are delivered in our Healthier Homes Awareness For Building Professionals online education course.
What is the EEBA High Performance Home Summit?
EEBA’s High Performance Home Summit focuses on providing the tools and networking that builders, raters, analysts, and architects need to take high performance, healthy, resilient homes to new heights. The annual High Performance Home Summit showcases cutting edge research and best practices of high performance housing. Through this Summit, EEBA educates building professionals, with the goal that they leave the event inspired to effectively build and sell high performance homes at a far greater pace.
What is Health Homes Awareness For Building Professionals?
Originally designed to answer the over-whelming demand for healthier homes, this course aims to bring together building science and medical science in order to ensure that the concept of building for people and health is centre stage, rather than the more traditional unilateral point of view for a build. Developed by asthma and allergy science experts at Allergy Standards, the same company behind the world famous asthma & allergy friendly® Certification, the course is available to all those in the professional building and design industries, retailers, and those interested in gaining insight into the creation of healthier homes for all.
The air we breathe is single most important external factor governing our health today. It’s obvious that no one can survive without clean air, yet we take it for granted. The course teaches how to build a better air quality environment for customers. Taking care of customers’ health and helping them make better, more informed decisions when purchasing products and services that effect the very air they, and their loved ones, breathe.
