Dr McKeon will be participating on a panel discussion titled “Building Inclusive Futures: Health Equity and Community-Centric Design”, taking place on Monday, June 10 at 2 pm. His co-panelists include Denge Agola, Principal, SmithGroup and Ian Hughes, Director of Environmental Sustainability, RUSH University Medical Center. Background
Environmental turbulence and climate change take a significant toll on all living beings, disproportionately affecting people from under-resourced communities. These individuals face greater risks and higher rates of negative health impacts, which often diminish their quality of life and life expectancy.
As we navigate the challenges these issues pose to the built environment, it is crucial to collaborate and include the perspectives of those most affected in the design of buildings and spaces intended to serve them. This panel discussion will explore the importance of community-centric design, each bringing unique and relevant viewpoints on how they strive to transform the status quo.
