ASL to Share IAQ Expertise with the Design Industry at NeoCon and Design Days 2023

NeoconNeoCon 2023

NeoCon has served as the world’s leading platform and most important event of the year for the commercial design industry since 1969. It serves as a hub for the commercial design community, uniting its designers, architects, end-users, manufacturers, dealers, service providers, associations, educators, students and media every year in June. Acting as a launch pad for innovation, offering ideas and introductions that shape the built environment into the future, it is the place to be for those in the design industry.

NeoCon 2023 will showcase 400+ leading and emergent companies introducing thousands of innovative new products and solutions for markets including Workplace, Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, Retail, Residential, Public Space and Government so it is an ideal space for ASL to catch up with some of their existing clients, like 3M and Benjamin Moore, meet with potential new clients, and share our expertise on healthy indoor environments with the design industry.

The demand for healthier indoor environments has risen in recent years, and it has become clear that design professionals must be knowledgeable of the materials that have a healthier impact on indoor air. Certified science-backed products cut through the generic marketing jargon that has flooded the industry, and provide clear trustworthy verification for the consumer. Our certification provides the reassurance that the consumer is seeking and our team is excited to bring this expertise to NeoCon.

NeoConDesign Days 2023

More than 40,000 people from across the global design community will gather at Chicago’s Fulton Market District for Design Days on June 12-14, an annual showcase of the latest in commercial products and design. As part of the event, our CERTIED clients, Tarkett, a worldwide leader in innovative and sustainable flooring solutions, will welcome design professionals into its Chicago Fulton Market showroom for a firsthand look at how the company is redefining its approach to design and for the unveiling of its newest flooring collection.

At Allergy Standards, we offer certification of  household products such as flooring, insulation, textiles and paint. Flooring covers a substantial proportion of the home and so any emissions from installed flooring can contribute significantly to the indoor air quality. Certified asthma & allergy friendly® flooring, like that from Tarkett, has been vigorously tested to show a substantial reduction of allergen after cleaning and minimal increase in allergen levels in the air during cleaning. Furthermore, any certified flooring should emit minimal VOCs- both from the adhesive and from the flooring itself.

Tarkett at NeoconTarkett only recently expanded its CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® iQ® Granit™ collection and introduced the coordinating iQ® Eminent™ collection within their high-performance homogeneous vinyl sheet and tile products. The newest addition to their portfolio of CERTIFIED products, Powerbond® RS flooring, is the world’s first soft surface flooring to be CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly®

During Design Days, Tarkett’s showroom will become the Co.Lab™, emphasizing the power of collaboration and community through a series of educational sessions, hands-on artistic activities and panel discussions. Among the leading voices from the design industry, our CEO Dr. John McKeon will be presenting on Tuesday, June 13 , 12-1 p.m:

The Impact of Materials on Social Equity and the Health of Communities

While respiratory illness is on the rise among all Americans, research shows it disproportionately affects vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. Since Americans typically spend 90% of their time indoors, good indoor air quality is a critical part of asthma and allergy management. But not everyone has equal or equitable access to healthy air. Roxane Spears, vice president of sustainability for Tarkett North America, will moderate a panel discussion on the imperative of a holistic approach to product selection for a positive impact not just on the planet, but on social equity as well.

In response to increasing consumer demand, the design industry is learning fast about how to create healthier spaces, and with our expertise we are perfectly positioned to ensure designers don’t get left behind. Clients of the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program receive educational, promotional and marketing  support. Additionally, our iAir Academy offers educational courses that cover various aspects of indoor air quality relating to the indoor environment.

As interest in products that support health and well being grows, it becomes more and more important that product health clams are backed by science – consumers need certainty that the products they bring in to their homes keep the promises that they make. This is where credible science and third party certification, like the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program can help.
