ASL and the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program Feature In Tarkett’s CSR Report

Tarkett has released its 2021 Corporate Social & Environmental Responsibility (CSR) report. Fully audited by an independent third party – KPMG – this report outlines the company’s significant sustainability performance, strong ambition and commitment to using healthier materials.

Tarkett uses the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program to drive competitive advantage and leverage their unique assets. The company is proud of their focus on using good materials for people’s health and well-being and the CSR report reads as follows:

Tarkett North America offers both residential and commercial flooring solutions that have been CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, in partnership with Allergy Standards Ltd. This certification program helps people make informed purchases for healthier homes, schools and workplaces. Only those products that pass stringent tests are awarded the designation. For flooring to be certified asthma & allergy friendly®, AAFA’s independent third-party testing must show that the floor is easily cleaned and has a low capacity for retaining allergens. The certification process involves testing not only the product itself, but also the installation method and recommended cleaning process as a complete system to ensure no harmful materials are introduced while installing or cleaning the floor. In 2020, Tarkett donated more than 2,000 square meters of asthma & allergy friendly® certified flooring through a partnership with Breathe EASY project in Washington D.C. (US)

CSR ReportConsumers are demanding products that are safer and healthier for themselves and their families and the asthma & allergy friendly® mark, awarded by the asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program, is the world’s most recognised Certification Mark for asthma & allergy friendly® products.

The Program creates competitive advantage by addressing the needs of the approximately 60 million Americans who live with asthma and allergies. Run in partnership with ASL and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, it provides clarity and confidence to consumers, allowing them to make better buying decisions. As the number of people with asthma and allergies continues to increase so to does demand for trustworthy asthma & allergy friendly® products.
