Asthma is a condition where the small tubes that carry air to the lungs (trachea) become inflamed and may become filled with mucus. This results in difficulty breathing and can be very severe, and may result in death in some cases. Asthma may be exercise induced or allergen induced. Allergens which may trigger an asthma attack include house dust mites, air pollutants, molds and fungi, cat and dog dander and smoking.
