allergy

Allergies are caused by the body being hyper-sensitive to a particular molecule or particle. The particles which cause an allergic reaction are called allergens. Common allergens include: dust (containing house dust mite particles) , cat/dog dander, and pollen. When an individual comes into contact with a particular allergen, his or her body responds with the production of inflammatory compounds, resulting in a range of reactions from watery eyes and runny nose to swelling of the trachea and difficulty breathing.
