New York, USA, July 16, 2008 Brian Cowen T.D., Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland welcomed by NYSE and rings opening bell.
Members of the ASL Team were invited to attend a business breakfast held today at the New York Stock Exchange, Ireland's Prime Minister, Brian Cowen, T.D. announced a series of contracts between several Enterprise Ireland (EI) clients and their U.S. customers. When combined, the deals totalled $18 million. The event, co-hosted by Enterprise Ireland and the NYSE Euronext, was attended by representatives of the ASL team and more than 200 guests of EI client representatives and their U.S. customers.
"We are very please to welcome Taoiseach Cowen to the NYSE," said Duncan Niederauer, CEO of NYSE Euronext. "Clearly, Ireland is a land of great enterprise and opportunity. Like many other businesses, we look forward to strengthening our partnership with Ireland and view the Taoiseach's visit to the NYSE as another important step to accomplish that goal." Commenting on the contracts, the Prime Minister noted, "Enterprise Ireland invests in over 70 Irish start-ups annually and these companies are now winning key reference sites in the U.S. due to their innovative technologies and services."
In welcoming the Prime Minister's announcement, Tom Cusack, director of the Americas for Enterprise Ireland said, "The companies announcing contracts here today are demonstrating the leadership and innovation that is a prerequisite for growth in this substantial market."
Following the breakfast event, the Prime Minister rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange where ASL were guests in the viewing gallery.
