Did you realise that certifying products as asthma & allergy friendlyTM ensures that they are future proofed against some upgrades in legislation? We started testing for phthalates in toys with plastic components some years ago and toy manufacturers who certified their toys asthma & allergy friendlyTM have since enjoyed the benefits of not having to play catch up when phthalate testing became mandatory in North America in Feb 2009 (CPSIA, Section 108).

timyeomans   The last decade or so has seen an exponential increase in the amount of products that are sold or marketed as being environmentally friendly. This explosion of environmentally friendly products has created an interesting challenge in the cleaning products sector: Although some cleaning products may truly claim to be green, their safety in use for those with asthma and allergies is not as clear.

Member states of the EU have the responsibility to ensure that products containing DMF are prohibited from being placed or made available on the market; products already on the market containing more than 0.1 mg/kg will also have to be removed from shelves and may not be sold as of 1 May 2009.
