Dr John McKeon, our Chief Executive Officer, recently returned from Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) F11 committee meetings on vacuum cleaners. This was the first time a representative of Allergy Standards Ltd attended the ASTM vacuum cleaner committee meetings and ASL were invited to attended by Inter Basic Resources (IBR), Grasslakes, Michigan headed up by Susan Goldsmith. The asthma & allergy friendly™ Certification testing of vacuum cleaner and air cleaner devices for the USA Certification Program is conducted in IBR.
ASL was very impressed with the thoroughness of the science and work undertaken by the committee and task groups with regards to vacuum cleaner evaluation, including pickup testing and integrity of filtration. The ‘Wal-Mart Vac Tag’ for vacuum cleaner performance in these areas was of particular interest and will be coming online for consumers this month.
Allergy Standards Ltd has been invited by Ken Lee from Bissell to join the ASTM committee. Allergy Standards is looking forward to contributing to the highly innovative F11 task groups and committees.
The next ASTM meetings on vacuum cleaners takes place on April 19, 2010 in St. Louis Missouri.
