Angela Southey PhD Technical Manager
Angela is the Technical Manager for ASC. She has overall responsibility for the running and operation of our analytical laboratory as well as the day to day management of ongoing projects.
Angela qualified with a BSc. in Microbiology from UCC, before going on to complete a PhD in Lung Fibrosis in UCD. After two years in Japan working on Ulcerative Colitis she returned to Ireland to take up a position in the Veterinary College, UCD, working on TB in badgers and cattle.
She subsequently worked in Laois County Council in Water Quality and then moved to The Irish Equine Centre where she worked in viral diagnostics. From here Angela moved into industry, where she spent two years in Wyeth Biopharma developing Virology Screening Methodology. Angela subsequently spent 2 and a half years Abbott Diagnostics where she worked as a Technical Specialist in Immunodiagnostics, before joining ASC.

Tim Yeomans Ph.D Manager - Laboratory/Research
Tim graduated from the Institute of Technology Carlow with a Degree in Industrial Biology before being employed in SimBioSys biotechnology company in research and production. He completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology in UCC which focused on pathogenic fungi.
Following a short contract in the National Centre for Medical Genetics, Tim was subsequently employed as a post-doctoral scientist in the Microbiology Research Unit in the Dublin Dental School and Hospital investigating pathogenic yeast species. While at the DDSH Tim was also a founder and committee member of the Trinity Research Staff Association.

Máire Fox M.Sc. Assistant Technical Manager
Máire shares responsibility for the analytical laboratory and project management of Certification testing. Maire graduated from NUIM with a BSc in Biology followed by laboratory analyst positions in the Biotechnology Unit in NUIM and the Vitamin Research Laboratory in TCD.
Máire completed a research MSc. in Prion Disease while working as a Laboratory Analyst in the Prion Research Laboratory in UCD. She subsequently worked in the Department of Agriculture investigating the molecular characteristics of BSE strains in Ireland.

Ingrid C. Apetrei PhD Senior Scientist - Microbiology
Ingrid holds a Degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Masters degree in food sanitary control and laboratory techniques from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, lasi, Romania. In 2009, she completed her Ph.D. with main specialisations in Microbiology and Immunology. In 2006, she founded the Romanian Society of Medical Mycology and Mycotoxicology encouraging and promoting the study of medical mycology, both human and veterinary.
As a microbiologist, Ingrid has vast experience in sampling and analytical techniques in aerobiology - monitoring indoor fungal spore pollution in correlation with human health and fungal identification. Ingrid has many scientific publications in specialised journals (Aerobiologia, Fungi & Mycotoxins) or presentations at national and international conferences.

Niamh McKeon B.Sc. Scientific Researcher
Niamh graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with an honours degree in Science and Zoology. She has a Business Skills Diploma from Pitman Training and has studied in d'Overbroeck's College, Oxford. She has specialist work experience in several ecological scientific research programs including conservation projects on the islands of Indonesia. She has also worked in several television ecological productions for the Irish national broadcaster. Previous employment includes providing executive support to Board of Directors in Capability Green. Further professional training includes completing an I.T Enrichment Programme and being Associated Exam Board certified in Communication Skills.
