Suppliers of components and raw materials can now become 'asthma & allergy friendlyTM COMPONENT APPROVED'. This new development recognises Manufacturers' demand for transparency and reassurance that products labelled as making health claims, and components used in their construction have been third party tested, audited and independently verified.
Allergy Standards and their premier not-for-profit asthma & allergy society partners have developed the asthma & allergy friendlyTM Certification Mark over the last 5 years. This Mark is used on finished products and has become a leading certification programme internationally. The Certification Mark recognises responsible manufacturers that have chosen to validate product health claims, especially in the area of asthma & allergy, and serves to assist consumers identify these products easily at retail.
Components used to construct or manufacture consumer goods linked with health claims should also be tested as being ‘fit for purpose'. For example it is important to prove the filling used to construct a pillow should not contain pesticides, flame retardants or chemical constituents at levels that could potentially impact negatively on asthma & allergy sufferers. Any claims companies make about their components in relation to dust mites or allergen for example, should be substantiated through independent and accredited laboratories, such as airmid health group.
The added advantage for finished product manufacturers seeking asthma & allergy friendlyTM Certification is that they can now source asthma & allergy friendlyTM APPROVED COMPONENTS' from our supplier database of companies with products tested by airmid laboratories and recognised by Allergy Standards. Using these approved components will qualify for finished product test exemptions. This supplier database is available by contacting Allergy Standards.
